The Bureaucratic Structure

The CIG has its Florentine Headquarters placed in the beautiful halls of Borgo Albizi 28 and some departments are situated at five Italian Universities: Bari (directed by Vera Di Natale), Catania (Prof. Salvatore Trovato), Siena (Prof. Annalisa Nesi), Torino (Prof. Renzo Massobrio) and Urbino (Prof. Sanzio Balducci). Next opening of a new Lumbard Department will be at the Statale University of Milan, under the direction of Giovanni Bonfadini.

The above scholars make up part of the Management Council of the Centre, together with five professors from the University of Florence: Alberto Nocentini (at present also Director of the CIG), Leonardo Savoia, Enrico Borello, Giancarlo Breschi, Temistocle Franceschi. Members of the CIG may be teachers and researchers from language disciplines, in particular, dialectilogic or demologic or who are, anyway, involved in paremiologic studies.

The CIG survives on research funds which are, unfortunately, always extremely limited. In the 2002-2003 period, thanks to contributions from MIUR (Ministry of Universitary Instruction and Research) and from the University of Florence (as well as from the Universities of Milan, of Turin, and of Urbino), a research on site in Piemonte, Liguria, Lombardia, Emilia Romagna and Toscana has been carried out. For Toscana, in particular, a more completed study is foreseen, in order to realize a pilot regional atlas, called Atlante Paremiologico Toscano (APT).

A new contribution for the 2004 CIG activities, related to Toscana, Marche and Triveneto regions, has been approved by MIUR.

Since the University has not yet assigned technical personnel to oversee the operations in above mentioned centres, the work has to be carried out by external personnel putting great pressure on the already limited funds. No other public or private body has so far set up an ad hoc scholarship.
